With more expatriates coming in, the variety of dogs in Uganda has recently widened.
As a veterinarian in Kampala, Uganda, I list the common types of dogs I see in Uganda at dog shows, with our clients, and in the canine sections of security organizations.
The 20 most common types (breeds) of dogs in Uganda are:
- Mongrel
A dog whose physical appearance and genetic composition cannot be traced or attributed to any known dog breed is a “mixed breed” or “mongrel.”
Mongrels are commonly known as local dogs or street dogs in Uganda. They are in different colors, sizes, shapes, and temperaments.
