Cats do not talk, so how do I know if my cat loves me?

Cats express love and trust to humans in several ways, i.e., kneading, purring, bunting you with their head and tail base, allowing you to groom them, bringing you presents, etc.

Respond positively to your cat when he or she shows love and trust.

In this blog, we list the most common signs, that show your cat loves you.

Bunting you with their head and tail base

The cat rubs you with their lower whiskers and tail base to mark you with a scent that tells other cats that this human is mine.

He/she sits on you and purrs

It’s a sign of calmness and relaxation.

Kneading on you or next to you

It indicates excitement.

Walking to you with a straight tail
Slow blink

When you blink at your cat, and he slowly blinks back, it signals trust.

Welcomes you back

A cat that loves you will know your routine; he will run to the entrance, meowing to welcome you.

Responds when you call his/her name.

Cats memorize the voices of the people they like; when you call them, they come to you or meow.

The cat immediately eats the food or treats you give her.

If your cat trusts you, he will eat immediately after you put food in the bowl.

If he doesn’t trust you, he will smell the food, move away, and then come after some time to eat or refuse the food.

Roll over and show you their tummy.

It’s a huge sign of trust. In the wild, cats are the prey of big animals, and they protect their vital organs in the abdominal region.

However, most cats do not like belly rubs; it’s a no-go zone area. Just observe her rolling.

The cat lets you groom them.

Cats are fastidious groomers; they spend 15–50% of their day grooming.

Grooming is a valuable activity for cats; letting you participate signals trust and love.

The cat runs to you when scared.

If a cat is scared of sudden noise, dogs, or predators, he will run to you for protection. A sign that your cat takes you as a guardian.

Lets you pick him/her up.

When a cat accepts you pick him up without fighting, scratching, or being tense. It shows that your cat isn’t afraid of falling.

Your cat brings you gifts (presents).

Wild/feral cats bring captures to their babies, siblings, or relatives to share, a sign of love and care.

Without babies or relatives, your cat brings you gifts out of love. Never yell/shout at your cat when he brings you gifts; it is a sign of love and care.

The gifts can be rats, clothes, cockroaches, lizards, etc. Appreciate your cat by rubbing his/her chin.

Your cat hangs out with you.

Cats are independent animals; they live a solitary life. If your cat follows you everywhere at home, it shows affection and trust.

Do not chase your cat when following; he will be heartbroken.

Conclusion

Good cat parents pay attention to the behaviors displayed by their cats. Always maintain your routine to avoid stressing your cat.
